The Chippewa County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Courthouse in Monte≠video. Commissioners present were Jim Dahlvang, David Nor≠daune, Matt Gilbertson, Jeffrey Lopez, and Chairman David Liesser.

The Chippewa County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Courthouse in Monte­video. Commissioners present were Jim Dahlvang, David Nor­daune, Matt Gilbertson, Jeffrey Lopez, and Chairman David Liesser.

Sheriff Derek Olson met with the Board to discuss upcoming equipment purchases for the future full-time deputy of the sheriff’s department. Olson is currently in the process of making a complete list before getting a final quote.

Next, a motion was made to authorize Olson, Chief Deputy Richard Shamla, and Administrative Assistant Megan Struxness to be applicant signatures on the sheriff’s checking and execution accounts at KleinBank, as well as authorize Olson, Struxness, and Jail Administrator Jon T. Schacherer to be applicant signatures on the jail account, also at KleinBank. The motion was approved.

Chippewa County Highway Engineer Steve Kubista met before the board to discuss recent board action.

Following Kubista, Drainage/Ag Inspector Josh Macziewski then met with the board to discuss appointments to the Joint County Ditch Authorities. The updated list is on file and can be found at the auditor/treasurer’s office, or the drainage office at the courthouse.

The board discussed the following items on the consent agenda:

• The next regular meeting on Feb. 5, 2019 at the Courthouse in Montevideo;

• The minutes of the Jan. 8, 2019 regular meeting;

• The addition of Grade 16 and Grade 17 to the current salary matrix;

• An American Legion Temporary 1-4 day On-Sale Liquor License for the Ice Castle Tournament.

All items on the consent agenda were approved.
