Donald Skogrand, 89, of Montevideo, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, at Luther Haven, in Montevideo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Pastor Matt Philaya officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Donald Curtiss Skogrand was born July 24, 1930, to Peter and Alma (Gulden) Skogrand. He grew up north of Montevideo and went to school in Milan. On March 31, 1949, he was united in marriage to Patricia Mary Kellner. He farmed until 1957, when they moved to Montevideo. He drove milk truck and worked construction until he joined the Chippewa County Sheriff Department. He very proudly served as sheriff for 12 years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards.
Donald is survived by one son, Steven Skogrand, of Shakopee; sister, Dorles (and Donald) Cornelius, of Eden Prairie; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; as well as extended relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Patricia; two sons, David and Brian; four brothers; two sisters; six brothers-in law; and five sisters-in-law.
