Richard Skogrand, 68, of Montevideo, died Monday, Sept., 30, 2019, at Luther Haven.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Montevideo, with Pastor Marie Eckberg officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4, at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Richard Lee Skogrand was born in Montevideo, July 12, 1951, to Marlowe and Mildred (Tobiason) Skogrand. He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and attended country school District 294 until the sixth grade. Following country school he attended Milan High School and graduated in 1969. After graduation Richard went to Willmar Vo-Tech for two years, as well as Granite Falls Vo-Tech for two years. He farmed for many years on the family farm before working at G & K for 25 years, and then at Walmart until retiring. Richard was a member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church. He enjoyed reading, especially about history, listening to music, old cars, and watching old movies.
Richard is survived by his siblings, Nancy (and Bob) Kurtzbein, of Montevideo, and Dean (and Connie) Skogrand, of Cottonwood; aunt, Delores (and Don) Cornelius; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were parents; grandparents; and sister, Julie Roder.
