Ronald Dwaine Hoff, 71, of Montevideo, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, from lung cancer, at the Clara City Care Center. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart, with the Rev. Dale Svendsen officiating. Burial was at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery.
Ron was born Feb. 21, 1948, to Fred R. and Edna (Dybsand) Hoff. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Ron received his education at Sacred Heart Public School graduating in 1966. He started working at Warner Manufacturing in Sacred Heart and was injured there in an accident in June 1967, suffering a severe traumatic brain injury and physical injuries. After several years of nursing care, Ron was able to live with his parents until 1994, when he moved to a foster home. In 1997, he moved to his foster home in Montevideo where he was loved by his housemates, Bennie, Larry, Lance, Kyle, and the caring staff of Onward Services. He became an associate member of Salem Lutheran Church, in Montevideo at that time. Ron was a hard worker at Chippewa Enterprises, Inc., in Montevideo, and very proud of the various jobs he did over the years. He especially enjoyed playing cards with co-workers and staff whenever possible. Ron had a great sense of humor, loved going out to eat, drinking coffee, and fishing.
Ron is survived by his brother, Rudy (and Gloria Skalbeck) Hoff; sister, Bonita (and Vernon) Seeman; nieces and nephews, Travis (and Lori) Hoff, Tracy (and Mike) Cotton, Kelly (and Scott) Glaesman, Tamara (and Ryan) Onnen, and Anthony (and Samantha) Seeman; great-nieces and great-nephews, Hannah and Ethan Hoff, Samuel, Seth, and Sara Cotton, Olivia and Will Glaesman, Brock and Miranda Onnen, James, Brody, and Charley Seeman; and many great friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Robert Hoff; and sister-in-law, Pat Hoff.
