Victoria Stephanie (Haas) Serna was born March 2, 1947, to Fred and Harriet Haas. Vicki was the embodiment of strength and love throughout her life. Born and raised in Fergus Falls, she attended Fergus Falls High School. In 1965, she married Dino Serna in Los Angeles, Calif., and together they had two children, Dean James Serna and Debra Kay Serna. Separating after eight years of marriage, Victoria moved her children back to Minnesota. Vicki relocated to the Montevideo area, buying a house on Gravel Road. She enjoyed and excelled at her various places of employment such as Trailways Cafe, Country Inn & Suites, and REM, while living in Monte.
Always one to go above and beyond for her family, Vicki eventually moved to Fergus Falls, to help care for her mother and brothers during retirement.
Victoria passed away peacefully, after a battle with throat cancer, at New Brighton Care Center on April 25. The impact Victoria left on the world and her family was a tremendous one. Her laughter was infectious and that sense of humor was certainly one in a million to say the least. Vicki's wisdom was a gift and she was generous in giving all of herself to her many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren without limits. Her taste in life's enjoyments were purely classical; from black and white Shirley Temple or Jerry Lewis movies to Patsy Cline on the radio. Victoria loved spending time teaching the kids to jig for panfish at the cabin in Fergus Falls or just unwinding from the day with a romantic page turner.
The family would love to invite prayer and positivity in her legacy. We believe that's what she would want in these trying times.
The family would also love to invite you to celebrate Victoria's life at her family home, 569 Gravel Road, Montevideo. Funeral will take place at Refuge Church, Benson Road, Montevideo, at 3 p.m., June 13.
