Seniors Abby Olson and Ashley McKee combined for 51 points as the Monte­video girls opened the season with an 82-65 road win over Dawson-Boyd on Tuesday.

 

The Thunder Hawks never trailed, getting off to a 7-0 start on a three-point shot by Abby Olson and inside baskets by Sarah Sulflow and Kaylee Glomstad.

 

A 7-0 run pushed the lead to 19-6. McKee and Jessie Tastad made baskets, Molly Reeves added a free throw, and Emmy Enevoldsen went coast-to-coast for a layup after grabbing a defenssive rebound.

 

Baskets by McKee, Glomstad and Olson gave Montevideo its biggest lead of the first half at 38-19.

 

Montevideo led 43-29 at halftime, with Olson scoring 15 points. The T-Hawks led by as many as 19 points in the half. The Blackjacks kept it relatively close by going 12-for-15 from the free-throw line.

 

With McKee scoring 16 of her 24 points after intermission, Montevideo led by at least 13 points in the second half.

 

McKee did most of her damage along the baseline and on the offensive board.
