Most high school athletes never get the opportunity to compete in a state competition. Montevideo senior Josh Tastad has had that opportunity three times in his career.
As a sophomore, Tastad was a part of the Thunder Hawks cross country team that competed at state. Last year, he made it as an individual along with team mate Kurt TeBeest.
This year, Tastad ran his best race of the year at sections on Oct. 26 to once again earn a spot at the state meet which was held at St. Olaf College in Northfield this past Saturday.
An unseasonal stretch of cold weather continued for Saturday’s meet, but Tastad wasn’t bothered by it. “The weather was great. It was kind of chilly, but it was perfect for running,” he said.
