On Saturday, the Thunder Hawks baseball team traveled to St. John’s University in Collegeville to play the Pipestone Arrows in a non-conference match up.

Monte was hot at the plate, knocking out 12 hits en route to an 8-5 victory over the Arrows.

Five players had multiple hits for the Hawks. Seth Kuno was 3-for-4 with a double. Brothers Colby and Noah Buseman were both 2-for-4 at the plate, with Colby getting three rbi’s. Jackson Snell and James Golden were each 2-for-3.

Snell started on the mound for Monte and pitched three solid innings to notch the win. He gave up only two hits while striking out three, and allowed no runs.

On Monday, Montevideo was again on the road to take on the Benson Braves.  Benson came from behind to hand the Thunder Hawks a 5-3 defeat.

The Hawks jumped on top in the first inning when Noah Buseman drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Monte added a run in the top of the fourth to take a 2-0 lead.

Monte starting pitcher Max Carruth held Benson scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Benson plated two runs to tie the game.

The Thunder Hawks added another run in the top of the fifth, but the lead was short lived.

In the bottom of the fifth, Benson batters smacked two doubles off relief pitcher Colby Buseman and took advantage of a Thunder Hawks error to score three runs.
