David Kirking of Montevideo died at the Clara City Care Center on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the age of 73.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 5:45 p.m.

Visitation will also be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.

Private family committal will be held at Holy Trinity Columbarium. David Donald Kirking, 73, passed away peacefully at the Clara City Care Center surrounded by his family on 03/07/2022.

He was born on December 17, 1948 in Richland Center, Wis., the son of Donald and Grace Kirking. He graduated from La Farge, Wis. 1967. He further went on and graduated from the Medical Institute of Minnesota in 1968.

On February 14, 1987 Connie Fleischacker and David Kirking were united in marriage at the St. Marys Chapel in Winsted by Father Jack Brunner. After living in Winsted for many years, they moved and have resided in Montevideo for the past 35 years.

Dave worked at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Winsted as a Lab Supervisor for 16 years. Following St. Marys, Dave worked at Montevideo Chippewa County Hospital in Montevideo as a Lab Manager for 28 years before he retired.

Dave’s hobbies and interests included marathon running, biking, gardening, attending his grandchildren’s school and sports activities, remodeling projects, traveling (especially to Branson, Mo.) and spending time with Maggie, the family dog.

Survived by his loving wife of 35 years Connie Kirking, daughter Lisa (Rick) Baumann of Howard Lake, daughter Leah (Jeremy) Watzke of Hutchinson, son DJ Kirking/fiance Kari Huntley of Montevideo, daughter Christine Carlson of Chaska, daughter Holly Odell of Montevideo. Grandchildren: Hailey, Brooke and Tony Baumann, Olivia and Avery Watzke, Alex, Thomas, Christian and Madden Kirking, Jayda and Jenna Akre, Jaden Hendrickson, Alaina Carlson.

Further survived by: sister Judith (John) Wainwright, brother Daniel (Ellen) Kirking, sister-in-law Karen Bergland, brother-in-law Brad (Michelle) Fleischacker, brother-in-law Bruce Fleichacker/special friend Bob Dickhausen, brother-in-law Todd (Pam) Fleischacker, brother-in-law Scott (Lori) Fleischacker, sister-in-law Kim (Rollie) Radtke, sister-in-law Stacey (Phil) Neumann, sister-in-law Amy Fleischacker; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by parents Donald and Grace Kirking, daughter Jennifer Kirking, mother- and father-in-law Elaine and Kenneth Fleischacker, brother-in-law Dale Bergland.
