Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson of Montevideo died on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 72.
Memorial services were held on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeff Fitzkappes officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation was held at the church for one hour before the service.
Michael Adair Johnson was born in Montevideo on January 20, 1950, the son of John and Grayce Grams. He was raised by his parents, Kenneth and Helen Johnson in Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1969. He attended Canby Technical College for one year. On April 5, 1974, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Marie Schneider at Bunde Christian Reform Church. They had one child together, Jazell. Mike worked for the City of Montevideo water and sewer department for over 38 years.
Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman, mentoring many new outdoorsmen. He loved to tell stories to family and friends. He also enjoyed riding motorcycle and watching car racing. Mike worked at the races as a flag man for a few years and also raced cars himself. His favorite times were hunting and fishing with his grandson, Brennon.
Mike is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughter, Jazell (Jeffrey) Holverson; grandchildren: Michael Holverson and Adeline Holverson; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brennon Johnson; and siblings: Susan Grams, Darlene Dack, Margret McKee, John “Jackie” Grams.
