David Boike, 76, of Shorewood was born March 18, 1946, in Montevideo to Herman Boike and Rosaliene (Dammermann) Boike. He grew up on a farm by Gluek. He attended Maynard school where he excelled in football and basketball. He graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. in 1968 where he majored in math and then received his MBA from the University of St. Thomas. He worked at Lutheran Brotherhood for 2 1/2 years where he met his future wife Lavonne Hermes. They were married in 1972 in Whapeton, N.D. They had two children, Erika and Steven. After leaving Lutheran Brotherhood, David worked for Dayton’s for 25 years. After Lavonne passed, he met CJ Harding and they were together for 22 years and were married on February 14, 2021. David enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. David was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2018. He passed away at home on November 9, 2022, surrounded by family. David is survived by his wife, CJ Harding, his two children: Erika and Steven (Erin), CJ’s three children: Chris, Surya, and Bo, and his six grandchildren: Tyler, Mason, Connor, Nora, Gwendolyn and Jace and sister Cheryl (Marc) Remhof. David’s service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19 at Huber Funeral Home, 520 2nd Street, Excelsior, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Interment Woodside Cemetery, Shorewood.
