Alton Hendrickson

 Alton Hendrickson of Montevideo died on October 13, 2022, at Luther Haven nursing home at the age of 93.
 Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee and Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
 Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
 Alton LeRoy Hendrickson was born on August 19, 1929, on a farm south of Milan to Sam and Sarah (Johnson) Hendrickson. He was baptized and confirmed at Watson Lutheran Church. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1948.
 He was united in marriage to Helen Roggatz on June 4, 1950, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. They were blessed with four sons and one daughter.
 Alton worked at the Farmers Coop Creamery and was custodian and bus driver for Montevideo Public Schools. After retiring he drove van for Chippewa Enterprises.
 He loved making up games for the grandkids and great-grandkids so they could earn quarters. As they grew older he would fold up $20 bills real small and quietly give them to the grandchildren for lunch or gas money. He loved to tell riddles and recite “Burma Shave” signs. His hobbies included bowling and fixing lawn mowers and mopeds. Most of the grandkids learned to ride mopeds from Grandpa Alty.
 Alton is survived by this wife Helen; daughter Vicki Meyer of Minnetonka; sons Ronald (Becky) of Montevideo, Richard (Laurie) of Montevideo, Keith (Karen) of Woodland Park, Colo., and Kurt (Nancy) of Montevideo; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brother Roger (Mary Ann) of South Haven; sister Edith Hendrickson of Montevideo and brother-in-law, Bob Roggatz of Appleton.
 He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Helen Johnson and Delores Roggatz; brothers: James, Sheldon (Avis) and Lloyd (Gloria) Hendrickson and son-in-law Jon Meyer.
