BUILDING COMMUNITY
Editor’s Note: What started as a project titled “Angels Among Us” has evolved into something so much more than we originally anticipated. We put out the call asking for nominations of people in our communities who go above and beyond for others, with overwhelming response. What resulted is a new concept - a new weekly series called “Building Community” with a focus on how our community members from all walks of life are building the kind of community they want to live in, whether its through small things, or very large life changing things. It’s about inspiring ideas in others we may not have considered, and hearing words of encouragement from those who have overcome their own challenges to become more involved in our communities. To tell us about someone you know that’s helping to build community, send an email to jstolen-jacobson@cherryroad.com.

Good Friday–Resurrection of the dead at Jesus’ death.
St. Matthew records an amazing event which took place at the time of Jesus’ death on the cross: “And the graves were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised.” (Matthew 27:52-53) This remarkable verse hearkens back to Ezekiel’s vision of the dry bones made alive (Ezekiel 37). Yes, the cross with the dead Jesus on it looks terrible, but don’t miss what that moment meant for you, forever. Look, death is done in! Jesus’ death has undone death. Even graves break open! Even the dead saints come to life! Like fans rushing on to the court after the last second three-point shot wins the game, the saints souls rush out of heaven’s cheering section and into their bodies, their bodies break out of death and will climb out of their graves. Not as fearful mummies, or half-dead zombies, but fully-alive Saints. Holy, alive in Christ, because Jesus conquered death for them and for all the world. Notice, even these living again saints patiently wait in their graves until Christ Jesus the first fruits comes out of His. But Jesus’ death makes them alive.

Live Well, Age Wisely
Typically Minnesota ranks high on all sorts of charts, whether it’s for US Census participation or quality of life. So I was a little disappointed when I read we are ranked 39th in SNAPAccess.

April blizzards bring May lizards. I know that’s not funny, but … will we ever see spring flowers or showers for that matter? This winter season’s last episode is a real nail-biter! Buried deep in the remaining snow are creative souls busy at work on their projects.
