BCA investigating after body found downtown

The area surrounding the Post Office in downtown Montevideo was surrounded by police tape early Monday morning after a postal worker discovered a body in the grass to the rear of the parking lot around 6:30 a.m.The Montevideo Police Department and Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, contacting the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to assist Montevideo Police Department in the investigation after discovering the deceased man had a stab wound.The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension arrived at the scene around 11:30 a.m.A press release was received from the Montevideo Police Department at 2:30 p.m.

Sentencing in overdose case

Last Tuesday, Deja Denise Padilla, age 21, of Montevideo pled guilty to charges of third-degree murder in court in Renville County.

Local non-profit hosts open house to raise awareness of organization’s mission

Last Thursday evening, the board of directors of a fairly new non-profit organization, Edu-Link, gathered at the Chippewa County Public Library in downtown Montevideo to host an open house to help promote the organization’s cause in the community.Edu-Link was founded by Tim Elkington, after as an adult he attended tutoring services provided by a Montevideo tutor that soon after retired.
