Pederson to launch book and art exhibit at Java River

Montevideo artist Doug Pederson describes his new book as something that came about “pretty much by accident”. What began as a way to pass the time has grown into a published collection of artwork and reflections that he will share at a launch event and art exhibit at Java River on Saturday, September 6th at 10 a.m.

Waterfowl hunting seasons on the horizon

Minnesota waterfowl seasons are around the corner, and hunters have a wide variety of opportunities to look forward to in 2025, with seasons starting Saturday, Sept. 6. Early teal season runs Saturday, Sept. 6 through Wednesday, Sept. 10, with shooting hours from sunrise to sunset.

Council reverses decision, grants 2 a.m. bar closing permit with conditions

At the August 4th meeting of the Montevideo City Council, one of the topics of discussion was consideration of a request to renew the 2 a.m. liquor license for Inn Like Flinn’s, the only establishment in the City that currently operates under extended hours. Concerns were raised about late-night incidents. A suggestion was made to require Inn Like Flinns to install a security camera if the permit were to be renewed, but the motion on the table at that point in the meeting was for outright denial. The council voted 3-2 to deny the renewal of the 2 a.m. closure, setting Flinn’s closing time at 1 a.m.

Is this true, or is it just a myth that people now believe to be true? Also, if this is true, how is the light triggered? Is it triggered by the flashing lights of the emergency vehicle or is it triggered through some other method?

Temps cool down over the weekend

As summer winds down and the kids return to school, it is a time to look back at this summer. Most of the state saw plenty of rain except the extreme northwest corner of Minnesota. The summer also saw some severe weather along with flooding in parts of the region.
