Chippewa County residents invited to attend flood map information open house
Representatives from FEMA will host a Flood Map Information Open House for communities in Chippewa County, Minnesota, on April 5, 2023, from 5 – 7 p.m. CT. The open house will give residents a chance to review preliminary versions of the recently completed Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report and its accompanying preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).

Informational Community meeting on Upper Sioux State Park land transfer
State Senator Gary Dahms (R – Redwood Falls) and State Representative Chris Swedzinski (R – Ghent) invite area residents to attend an informational meeting regarding the possible transfer of lands from the Upper Sioux Agency State Park to the Upper Sioux Community. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Minnesota West Community and Technical College Granite Falls Campus (1593 ‒ 11th Avenue). Folks should use the door to the AG Bush Student Center on 11th Avenue.

2023 Free Park Days announced for Minnesota state parks, recreation areas
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is waiving vehicle permit fees at all 75 state parks and recreation areas on four dates in 2023. The Free Park Days will be Saturday, April 22; Saturday, June 10; Saturday, Sept. 9 and Friday, Nov. 24.

Helmsley Charitable Trust grants CCM Health funds for ultrasound imaging device
The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust has granted nearly $18.3 million to help Minnesota hospitals and health centers purchase nearly 200 ultrasound imaging devices and an additional $8.1 million to boost sonography and point of care ultrasound (POCUS) training opportunities across the state.
