Levee project delays cause concern with FEMA flood zone mapping updates

Saturday, February 4th: Lac qui Parle State Park Luminary Hike 6:30 p.m. Dress warmly and plan for a beautiful candle-lit hike through the floodplain forest. The hike is a mile into the historic warming shelter on the west side of the lake through the lower campground area. There will be a fire, hot cocoa, and treats in the shelter.
DNR celebrates EagleCam’s first decade
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is celebrating 10 years of the Eagle-Cam, a popular annual livestream of a bald eagle nest in Minnesota. The first season of the DNR EagleCam began in January 2013, after the Nongame Wildlife Program installed a webcam in a tree next to an active bald eagle nest.

Party held for retirement of Budger’s Dinner House owners
Bill and Lorri Beasley, the owners of the iconic Budger’s Dinner House located in Maynard, recently held a retirement party to celebrate all the years in business after they officially closed the steakhouse’s doors. The decision to close the doors of Budger’s was not one that came easy to the Beasleys, who bought the restaurant from Bill’s father in 1980.
CCM Health announces Community Investment Program
CCM Health announced that the application period for large grants for its Community Investment Program will be open from January 16 – March 1, 2023. The successful program is in its third year of benefiting many of the communities that CCM Health serves.

Veterans in suicidal crisis can now go to any VA or non VA health care facility for free emergency health care
As of Jan. 17, Veterans in acute suicidal crisis are now able to go to any VA or non-VA health care facility for emergency health care at no cost – including inpatient or crisis residential care for up to 30 days and outpatient care for up to 90 days. Veterans do not need to be enrolled in the VA system to use this benefit.
