Local student part of MSU BFA Exhibit

A Minnesota State University Moorhead student art exhibit featuring works by graduating art students will be on display in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts gallery through December 15. The exhibit is in partial fulfillment of students’ Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees.

Apply by Dec. 7 for DNR grants that help children get outside

Public entities and nonprofit organizations serving people younger than 18 can apply for No Child Left Inside grants through 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is offering the grants to help more children cast a line, study animal tracks, hike, bike, or simply learn more about nature.

Speaker discusses ideas for rural communities to fill empty buildings

Last Tuesday evening, area leaders gathered at the Pioneer PBS station in rural Granite Falls to hear a presentation given by Deb Brown, of Iowa. Brown is a co-founder of SaveYour.Town, a business designed to develop strategies to not only save, but grow small towns. The presentation was hosted by the Upper Minnesota River Valley RDC and Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF).

School board discusses results of facilities survey At last week’s regular monthly meeting of the Montevideo School Board, Daniel Ohmacht was sworn in as a board member, taking the seat left open by the departure of Tyler Sachariason. The board also heard the results of the recent election.
