Chicks have hatched on the DNR FalconCam
Four newly hatched chicks are now visible on the Minnesota DNR’s popular FalconCam (mndnr.gov/falconcam). The Nongame Wildlife Program’s camera is in a nesting box in downtown St. Paul and will once again provide an intimate look at peregrine falcons raising their young.

In preparation for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is highlighting recreation opportunities across the state park, recreation area and trail system.

Second graders present book publishing project
Second graders were special guests at the school board meeting last week. They were proud to represent Ramsey Elementary by sharing the process of publishing their own writing and illustrations in their class book entitled “Wild Wonders”. It was an opportunity for Mrs. Blom’s students to demonstrate their knowledge and excitement, face-to-face with the school board and administration.

Temperatures closer to average
We saw some frost over the weekend and earlier this week in parts of Minnesota. It always is a gamble this time of the year as the temperatures can range from the 80s and 90s for highs, to the 20s and 30s for overnight lows. Many people had to cover their plants or bring them inside earlier this week.
Archery in the Parks at Lac qui Parle State Park, Saturday May 24th
Archery in the Parks is hands-on instruction shooting a bow and arrow from certified instructors in a safe and supportive environment. Aim for a family adventure with kid-friendly equipment designed for beginners aged 8 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All equipment is provided. Personal archery equipment is not allowed. This program is run as a stop by, first come first served program.

USDA to open general and continuous Conservation Reserve Program enrollment for 2025
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced several Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) enrollment opportunities for agricultural producers and landowners. USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is accepting offers for both the General and Continuous CRP beginning today through June 6, 2025.
