Emily Olson joins Wing Bain as a new funeral director
Wing Bain Funeral Home has a new funeral director in its midst. Emily Olson, born and raised in the Montevideo area, has officially come on board to Wing Bain officially as of September 1st as a new funeral director. Olson and her boss, Sherri Stamps, sat down to discuss Olson’s new position and how she found her way to mortuary science.

During the Best Places to Work in Healthcare awards gala held in Nashville, Tennessee on September 29, 2022, CCM Health was awarded the 38th best place to work in health care in the provider category.

Colder air pushes a freeze across the state
A warm airmass has been with us for the best several days. We have had the clouds hanging around at times too along with some light rain off and on. A southerly flow has been pulling in the mild air, but it is also pulling in some moisture at times. The moisture has helped with the wildfire concerns that can be quite high this time of the year.

Volunteers gather in Montevideo to package food for those in need
Old National Bank celebrated its first Better Together Volunteer Days on Sept. 28 and 29. The two-day event provided team members across Old National’s seven-state footprint the opportunity to volunteer together in the communities where they live and work. During the event, 1,572 ONB team members served 110 organizations by volunteering more than 5,300 hours. There were also virtual volunteer opportunities for those who could not participate in person.


Plans underway for 2023 Relay for Life
The Yellow Medicine/ Chippewa County’s Relay for Life planning committee will be holding its first informational meeting for the 2023 Relay for Life event on Monday, October 24th at 6 p.m. at the Co-op Credit Union. At that time, the committee will be deciding on the date for the 2023 Relay for Life Event.

Lavoie returns to hometown with band Colt45 this weekend
Randie Lavoie looks forward to a return to his hometown of Montevideo on Saturday, October 8th, along with his band Colt45 for a performance at the Montevideo American Legion. Lavoie, who has been involved in the world of music his entire life and began playing at just eight years old, says he has always found peace in performing, an escape from the troubles of the world.
