Montevideo wins first-ever Legion Junior State Championship
VFW Post 380-sponsored Montevideo captured the 2022 American Legion Junior Division II baseball championship last weekend in Ely, defeating Ely 4-3, Dilworth- Glydon-Felton 8-2 and Le Sueur-Henderson 2-1 in the final.

Annual Pezihutazizi Oyate Traditional Wacipi held
The annual Pezihutazizi Oyate Traditional Wacipi was held August 5th through 7th at the Upper Sioux community. The event began on Friday, with registration opening at 2 p.m. The Grand Entry was held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m., and additionally Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. Special events this year include the Men’s Traditional Special honoring Tim Blue on Friday, sponsored by Joe and Kate Bendickson, and on Saturday, the Women’s Traditional Special in remembrance of Rhonda Hoeper, sponsored by Timothy Wells, Jr.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Saturday, August 13th: 5th Annual Ride 2 Remember in Granite Falls. The event begins in the morning with registration at the American Legion at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. opening ceremonies, and 11 a.m. takeoff. Dinner is served at the Legion followed by a concert.
