LQP crappie limit reminder

Anglers are reminded that the Lac qui Parle Lake crappie limit is now five fish per angler. The regulation went into effect March 1st. The new limit applies to all of Lac qui Parle Lake, the Watson-Sag diversion channel to the downstream side of the dam on County Highway 9, and the Minnesota River upstream to the downstream side of the Marsh Lake Dam and Control Structure.

Little moisture in the forecast

We had an amazing weekend in the area! On Sunday we had temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and lower 80s throughout the region.

First annual UnstoppABLE games held

The 1st annual MRVED UnstoppABLE Games took place at SMSU in Marshall on April 30, 2025. 50 students were invited from 9 surrounding school districts including Benson, Dawson-Boyd, Lac qu Parle Valley, Lakeview, Minneota, Montevideo, Ortonville, Renville County West, and Yellow Medicine East. The UnstoppABLE Games were meant to provide an inclusive experience for students with disabilities while participating in track and field events.

Ask a Trooper: Flashing Yellow Arrow…

Question: In one day, Monday I had three incidents where cars did not yield right of way when they had a flashing left turn arrow. I have observed several other incidents involving other drives as well. It seems of late people seem to think the flashing arrow gives them the right of way.
