Montevideo Fiesta Days Queen Tegan Marty heads to Aquatennial Ambassadors competition
Nearly every year, Montevideo’s Fiesta Days Queen participates in the Aquatennial Ambassadors competition in Minneapolis. Montevideo has not had a representative at the competition only a couple of times in the history of Fiesta Days, with most recent years being due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, Montevideo’s representation returns with Fiesta Queen Tegan Marty heading to Minneapolis to compete against 36 other candidates for the title of Queen of the Lakes. Those selected as Ambassadors through the titles of Queen of the Lakes or one of two Aquatennial Princesses commit to a year-long public relations internship and in return receive educational scholarships funded through Aquatennial Ambassadors Organization donors and members.
Gustavus Adolphus Spring Dean’s List
The Spring Semester Dean’s List at Gustavus Adolphus College has been released. The list comprises students who have earned a 3.7 grade point average (based on a scale in which 4.0 = A) or higher for the semester ending in May 2022.

New event at the fair garners much attention on social media
Recently, the Chippewa County Fair board posted a new event for the fair on their social media page, and were surprised at the number of views, shares, and responses the event received. What originally began as an idea brought up in a board meeting has now grown to a full-fledged competition for locals to vie for the title of best mullet.

Mission Sunday speaker shares story behind historic fiction novel inspired by local history
On Sunday afternoon, the 64th annual Mission Sunday event was held at the historic Lac qui Parle Mission site, with over 50 attendees at the church service held as a part of the day’s events. The event is hosted annually by the Chippewa County Historical Society.
