Annual Fiesta Days activities take place throughout the weekend
The Montevideo High School Marching Band performed during the parade. There were 165 units that took part in the parade in all.

Annual Hunger Walk held during Fiesta Days
The annual Hunger Walk has been held during Fiesta Days since 1986, and was again held this year. The Hunger Walk is held with the help of local churches, civic organizations, and community members in order to raise funds through sponsoring walkers. Those funds are donated to the Food Shelf, the St. Martin Fund, the Backpack Program, and the Salvation Army. Participants and spectators are also encouraged to bring donations of food items for the local food shelf.

Local volunteers take part in Recovery Coach training to bridge gaps in recovery community
Exactly three years ago, Bold North Recovery and Consulting hosted the first Recovery Coach Academy training in Montevideo, with six volunteers learning the CCAR curriculum. The curriculum is a five-day intensive training focused on providing skills needed to guide, mentor, and support anyone looking to enter into or sustain recovery from addiction long-term.
Wellbriety group informs council of plans to open a Recovery Resource Center in Montevideo
At Monday evenings City Council meeting, Montevideo resident Morgan IronHeart was in attendance for the public comment portion to provide an update to the City on the Montevideo Wellbriety group’s addiction and mental health awareness efforts within the community. IronHeart informed the council that the group had recently been approached by Project Turnabout to work collaboratively on building a Recovery Community Organization. “Basically, it’s an outreach program. We’re working with Project Turnabout’s lawyers and Van-Binsbergen and Associates lawyers to work out a lease for the lower level of the Klein Bank building to open that up as a Recovery Resource Center to do outreach. We’ll have meetings there. We’re doing jail meetings in Granite Falls and Montevideo now. We have our Peer Recovery Coach training going on at Project Turnabout right now with thirteen people from our group actively being trained to be Peer Recovery Coaches in our community. It is really exciting for us,” IronHeart said.

Heritage Days held over the weekend
The annual Heritage Days event was held Friday and Saturday at Heritage Hill in rural Montevideo. The event hosted a variety of activities centered around life in he early days, including exhibits in a one-room school house, a restored prairie farm house, blacksmith shop, tractor displays, gas engine displays, and a daily tractor parade. This is the second year the event was moved from the traditional August date to coincide with Fiesta Days activities. Local business owner creates scavenger hunt for community over Fiesta week
Last week, the Montevideo community was given the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt in search of gift cards to Toppers Bar and Grill, all due to the efforts of Joe Rongstad of All-Time Curbing and Landscape.

New Fiesta Royalty crowned
Junior Royalty princess Addelynne Godfrey is crowned. Junior Royal prince is Bentley Debraske.

2022 Community Ambassadors announced
Carrying on the tradition of awarding two new Community Ambassadors as a part of the Fiesta Days celebration each year, a ceremony was held at the Community Center on Wednesday for the announcement of this year’s award recipients.

In 1945 the City of Montevideo, Minn. held its first Fiesta Days.
