Faith Column: Challenge and Comfort

All throughout the Bible we see God challenging people to be better, to do right by their neighbors, to be more generous, more forgiving, more kind. In these many many stories, we see a similar pattern: we humans are shown to easily become greedy, meanspirited, selfish, cruel, or even just confused, scared, and lost, leading to all sorts of bad decisions, all sorts of harm to self, others, and God’s good creation. God challenges us to do better, and we need it! Limits on our greed, on our ability to harm others, helps everyone together to lead fuller happier lives – and it also helps us to live a fuller happier life ourselves!
