Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council receives grant

The Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council Inc. (PIC) has been awarded $41,097 by the Otto Bremer Trust and $25,000 from the Southwest Initiative Foundation to provide a sequential, purposeful continuum of Career Exposure, Career Exploration and Career Experience activities for students in southwest Minnesota. As a school-to-career intermediary organization, the PIC serves as a single point of contact for employers and schools, with the goal to increase student’s and parent’s knowledge of local career opportunities and facilitate work-based learning opportunities. Southwest Minnesota offers amazing career opportunities for students, but many students are not aware of their local options. The PIC connects students with local employers and assists students in developing marketable experiences and skills needed by business. It is a great win-win, students become more informed and prepared for their career and it helps develop an essential talent pipeline of future workers for local employers.
