THUNDER HAWKS GIRLS TEAM MAKES SCHOOL HISTORY
Monday evening, the Thunder Hawks Girls Basketball Team made school history with their win over Benson. The team finished the West Central Conference with an 11-1 record, securing the Conference Championship for the first time in the school's history. Their overall record is now 21-3. Art exhibit featuring visual sound opens next month in neighboring Granite Falls
Art Commons, one of Canada’s largest art galleries, is currently featuring a curated collection titled Indigenous Motherhood and Matriarchy that houses an exhibit with the work of Wicanhpi Iyotan Win (Autumn Cavender-Wilson), a member of Pezutazizi K'api (Upper Sioux Community). The show opened in December 2021, and runs through the end of this week, with the ability to view the entire collection virtually. The collection involves multiple artists, working to highlight women’s resiliency and strength, and is curated by a Cree artist named Autumn Whiteway. Whiteway curated the collection first in 2021, and the current collection is the third installment of artists.

Minneapolis-based duo to perform at Talking Waters this weekend
This Saturday, Twin Cities-based musical duo Matt and Laurel Trost will be performing at Talking Waters Brewing Company in Montevideo. The duo is a husband and wife team that travels around the Midwest playing a variety of cover songs from over six different decades as well as some original music.
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Dean’s list announced

Cookie Krums provides artistic, custom cookies locally
Katie Krumwiede has always had a flair for artistic endeavors, and in December of 2020, she turned her attention to baking - more specifically, cookie baking and decorating. “I like lots of different artistic kinds of things, and throughout the pandemic, I became obsessed with Instagram videos of people decorating cookies. One day I thought, you know what? I’m just going to give it a try,” she says.

Valhalla Apartments in Clarkfield celebrates 50th anniversary
Fifty years ago, the Valhalla Apartments opened in Clarkfield, after a lot of effort from a board that was formed in order to secure the building for Clarkfield’s future. Richard Petersen, of Clarkfield, is one of the original Board members. “I got appointed to the board after one of the original board members left town and I was selected to be on the board for quite a long time during the construction phase of the facility,” Petersen recalls.

Community gathers to send dance team off to State
Parents and community members gathered for a ceremony to send-off the Gold Dusters Dance Team to the State tournament last Thursday afternoon.
