Above normal temps on the forecast

This time of the year can be unpredictable and wide ranging in what kind of weather that we can receive here in Minnesota. We had record or near record high temperatures on Monday before another winter storm hit parts of Minnesota.

Warmer temps over the weekend

This has been the coldest air so far this winter season that we have been “enjoying!” We had Cold Weather Advisories last week and then we started off this week with an Extreme Cold Warning! At times we have seen wind chills down to 45 below zero across the area--now that is one cold Artic airmass!

Chippewa County 4-H Horse team awarded

The Chippewa County 4-H Horse Team and coach, recently achieved the award of 2025 Senior Reserve Champion Hippology team and Senior Reserve Champion Horse Quiz Bowl team at the Black Hills Stock Show. Hippology is the study of horses, and the competition included tests and stations related to anatomy, physiology, history and more.

Memory Care Corner: Fish and Dementia…

According to the MN Department of Natural resources, there are 162 species of fish found in Minnesota waters. Perhaps you have been to their exhibit at the MN State Fair? I have visited that exhibit on numerous occasions and I am completely amazed when people of all ages were able to identify the fish swimming in that little pond in front of them. How could they recognize the different fish? Personally, having grown up next to Hawk Creek, I was familiar with the bullhead, but that was about it!

Montevideo City Council holds first meeting of 2025

At Monday evening’s meeting of the Montevideo City Council, new and re-elected council members took the oath of office. Re-elected council member is Bev Olson and newly elected council member is Dean Matthys. Also newly elected taking the oath of office is James Bulman.

Ask a Trooper: Blue Light Question…

Question: I’m wondering about a light that seems to only be on at night on the traffic lights. It’s a small purple or blueish light that’s near the traffic lights. I’ve tried to figure out what its use is or if it’s a camera. I’ve asked other people what it means and I’ve never met anyone who knows what it is. Thank you!

CCM Health Welcomes Nicole Wellendorf, MSW, LICSW to its Behavioral Health Team

CCM Health is excited to welcome Nicole Wellendorf, MSW, LICSW to their Behavioral Health team. Nicole completed her education at Washington University in St. Louis and is board certified in Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work, is a Rostered Child Parent Psychotherapy and Certified Attachment Biobehavioral Catchup clinician and is Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health certified. Nicole will begin seeing patients at CCM Health in January 2025.

VA’s Veteran Health Administration notifying Veterans whose personal information may have been compromised

The U.S Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Health Administration is sending letters to 1838 Veterans notifying them of the potential disclosure of limited information that may have been sent to another VA patient. No social security numbers or other identifying information other than name were divulged, when Xerox Corp., under contract to VA, experienced a printing error in November.
