Hot weekend ahead
We enjoyed one of the nicest Memorial Day weekends in recent memory! Early on there were some indications of a slight chance of rain impacting the area, but it all tracked to our south on Memorial Day.
Council approves Fiesta events, liquor store upgrades
At Monday evening’s meeting of the Montevideo City Council, a range of topics were discussed - from community event planning to key infrastructure milestones. The meeting also included a celebratory announcement regarding long-awaited FEMA certification for the recently completed levee project.

Kids in the Community day provides service to local public spaces
Last week, Montevideo Middle School held its annual “Kids In The Community” event. Students and staff of Montevideo Middle School came together to make a positive impact on their community. They spent the morning cleaning up and beautifying areas throughout town. It was a way for the students to learn firsthand about the importance of teamwork and taking care of their environment. Students and staff formed groups and dispersed throughout the community. They spent all morning cleaning up trash, branches, cleaning, raking & pulling weeds. A few of the places they visited were Chippewa City, Swenson Farm, area churches, main street, Smith Park, Heritage Hill, VA home, CCMH, Luther Haven & Brookside.
School District anticipates lengthy list of repairs over the summer
At Monday evening’s meeting of the Montevideo School’s Board of Education, Superintendent McKittrick provided an update on facility maintenance, noting that last summer, the district addressed over a million dollars of facility maintenance needs.
