As the weather finally gives us a break, it seems everyone is playing catch-up. Many events are now taking place, many evenings are spent out covering sports events for the schools. It would seem I spend more time in my car than my house.

Striding into the future . . .

In the coming weeks, high school seniors across the country will don caps and gowns and proudly walk across a stage to receive a diploma in the culmination of a 13-year goal that has taken the support of many people along the way in order to achieve it. Seniors, your family, in particular, has been with you every step of the way and I hope you thank them.

Think things through. If you quit exercising because you feel good, you’re likely to take a fall and get injured and feel worse.

My house has been a whirlwind of activity the likes of which has not been seen - well, maybe ever. It’s strange when your kids grow up and become adults. I’m at the point in my life where there’s one child left at home, just entering her teenage years, and two are adults out on their own.

Some rain lingering into the weekend

Temperatures continue to be below average for this time of the year. Parts of Minnesota once again saw some light rain and some light snow on Sunday as a weak surface low pushed across the region.

News from Milan

Here we go again. Where is warm spring sunshine to make flowers bloom? I could even handle the rain if it did anything but make the gravel roads soupy. And here I am again complaining about the weather. It’s difficult to see any bright sides when I look at the long range forecast. Uff da.

It was good to see clips of Joe Biden being welcomed by big happy crowds in Ireland, grinning, shaking hands, posing for pictures, kissing babies, quoting Irish poets, busy being beloved by all who waited to see him. Obama knew a degree of belovedness, thanks to his wife and daughters, and Reagan’s sunny disposition was well-received, but the White House hasn’t seen much outright love in my lifetime, which you could argue is proper in a democracy, for people to be wary of great power, but it strikes me as sad, walking around Central Park on a paradise spring day, the cherry trees in full blossom, a jazz trio playing under the trees, Frisbee players playing pickle in the middle, yoga folks striking poses, softball games, a runner pushing his little daughter in a cart, dog walkers, so much public happiness, to think of the cloud of bitterness over this generous country.
