Memory Care Corner: Proactive or Reactive?
Last week I attended our Parkinson’s Support group meeting and we had a speaker give a presentation on scams and fraud. Even though I have never been a victim of a scam (at least to my knowledge!), it was great information and very eye-opening.

Well. I think we had one morning with little wind. And then it comes back with a vengeance. Saturday there was beautiful sunshine, but the winds were gross. It was Prom Day at LQPV HIgh School. Elizabeth had her hair prettied up and they must have used a ton of hair spray and a zillion pins holding it together. Even with several outdoor pictures, she looked beautiful for Grand March. I’m glad that the rain held off until late in the evening.

Summer-like weather this week
So many people have been commenting to me this past week, that “we have gone from winter-like weather right into summer-like weather!” We have seen warmer temperatures and even some thunderstorms along the way across the state over the past week. These warmer temperatures and windy conditions have helped to dry things out a bit for the farmers, but it has also created some wildfire concerns.

Faith Column: Faith beyond the Bible
For many people of faith, there is a great love of the Bible – and for good reason! The Bible is a treasure trove of stories about God interacting with humanity, it is a rich resource for learning how our ancestors in the faith made difficult decisions, it contains beloved prayers, it is the source of many of our favorite words of hope, and it makes freely available teachings that have benefitted the entire world. I give thanks to God for this good book! Do you as well?

Our own hidden landscape
I just returned from two weeks in the Columbia Gorge region along the Washington/Oregon border. The deep basaltic canyons and towering buttresses above the river, the lushness of the high meadows and the vistas to distant snow-capped volcanic peaks all left me in awe at such incredible landscapes. The geology of a region speaks of its formation in both subtle and grandiose ways.

Beyond Reason
Rob Perez sits across from a vibrant, solid blue potted perennial herbaceous bulbiferous geophyte, more commonly known as a tulip. ROB: Well, this is very unusual.
Letter to the Editor
On behalf of the Class of 2023 and the Junior Class parents, we would like to thank the many groups and organizations that help make Daybreak 2022 fun and successful! THANK YOU to the businesses, individuals, and organizations who so generously contributed to the success of this post-prom gathering. Due to the great people in our community, we were able to provide a fun and safe environment for our young people after prom. Our goal is to keep kids safe on one of the most memorable nights of their high school years.

From the Editor’s Desk
We’re well into the spring sports season, and still dealing with cancellations, reschedules, and shortened games because of all the cold, rainy, windy weather. I don’t recall a spring sports season that’s been quite so interrupted in many years.

Another drizzly, dreary Sunday. It would be a great day to stay in bed with a good book and classical music on the radio. Unfortunately I have obligations. Shucks. I’m hoping the sun comes out later.
