Thunder Hawk softball team takes on Minneota

On Monday evening, the Thunder Hawk girls varsity softball team hosted Minneota/Canby for a 5-8 loss. Leaders in the game included Lily Eisenlohr who was 3-for-4 with a double, two stolen bases, two runs, two RBIs.

Montevideo baseball team defeats Sauk Centre

Last Tuesday afternoon, the Thunder Hawks varsity boys baseball team took on the Mainstreeters for a 7-6 and 2-0 double-header victory in Sauk Centre. Leaders in the game included Brady Snell who pitched a complete game in game one with 12 strike-outs, allowing four hits, two walks, while also going 1-for-3 at bat.

Thunder Hawks tennis team defeats MACCRAY

Last Tuesday afternoon, the Montevideo Boys Tennis Team took on MACCRAY in Clara City for a 7-0 victory. Thunder Hawk Speech team competes at Section 3A Tournament

The Thunder Hawk Speech Team had a great day competing at the Section 3A Speech Tournament on Saturday, April 15 in Redwood Falls. Four of our speakers made it to the final round in their category. Congratulations to Madison Van Binsbergen who received 4th place in Extemp Reading. Moving on to compete at the Minnesota State Speech Tournament on April 29 at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN are Thomas Philaya and Elisabeth Philaya who received 3rd place in Duo and Junia Fitzkappes who received 1st place in Discussion. Thunder Hawks baseball takes a win in season opener

Montevideo opened its 2023 baseball season last Friday with an impressive 13-4 home win against nonconference Yellow Medicine East. Landon Olson went 3-for-3 and collected four RBIs for the Thunder Hawks, and Jackson Baldwin, Brady Snell, Gannon Reidinger and Luke Kuno all had two hits apiece.

Thunder Hawks girls basketball banquet held

The late start to the 2023 high school baseball season -- when teams will be forced to play several games each week, likely could play into Montevideo’s pitching strength, skipper Tim Epema said earlier this week. “The fields will eventually be playable, and once they are, we expect to be as competitive as any team in (Section) 3AA,” said Epema, who has built the Thunder Hawks program into a West Central Conference powerhouse in his first 15 seasons as head coach.

Spring turkey hunting begins now

Minnesota turkey hunting began this week, with opportunities available from Wednesday, April 12, through Wednesday, May 31. The season is divided into six hunt periods, A through F.

Thunder Hawk speech team members advance to 3A tournament

The Thunder Hawk Speech team traveled to the Subsection Speech Tournament in Windom last week to compete. Everyone advances to the Section 3A Speech Tournament in Redwood on April 15. The team members placed as follows: Junia Fitzkappes- 2nd Place in Discussion, Madison Van Binsbergen- 2nd Place in Extemp Reading, Thomas and Elisabeth Philaya- 2nd Place in Duo, Ellie Christopherson and Liliana Birdsall- 4th place in Duo, and Lara Krueger and Alex Fultz-5th place in Duo.
