Thunder Hawks boys basketball team ends season
The Thunder Hawks boys varsity basketball team ended their season over the weekend at the SMSU R/A Facility in Marshall, as they took a loss to Redwood Valley by just three points in the final moments of the game.
DNR holding career fairs to recruit conversation officers
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is holding two open-house-style career fairs for anyone interested in learning about becoming a conservation officer. The career fairs are part of the agency’s current CO Prep program application period, which runs through March 31 and is for people without previous law enforcement experience.
Team United takes 5th place at state tournament
Over the weekend, team UNITED wrestling traveled to the Twin Cities for the State Tournament. In the Class AA state tournament, the team took 5th place. In round one, United lost to Kasson-Mantorville 18-47. In round two, United won against Mora 42-30. In Round three to earn the 5th place spot, United won against Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus 35-32.

Local students earn academic honors
St. Cloud Technical & Community College congratulates the following students for their academic achievement Fall 2022. They have earned recognition on the President’s List for a grade point average of 4.0 or the Dean’s list for a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.99.
MMS band students compete at SMSU
On March 3rd, Montevideo Middle School’s 7th and 8th grade students, 65 in total, spent the day at Southwest Minnesota State University participating in the Middle School Solo and Ensemble Contest. All of the students played a solo for the judge, and the Jazz Band performed as well.
Thunder Hawk boys defeat Windom
Montevideo boys basketball coach Derek Webb says he was pleased but not surprised by his team’s 83-73 upset victory over third-seeded Windom in a Section 3A first-round game Saturday on the opponent’s home court.
