Montevideo Swim team has two key conference meets coming up

Montevideo girls swimming and diving coach Nick Patton says he couldn’t be prouder or have more confidence in senior captains Taylor Viessman, Marienau Huseby and Grace Pauling. “They’re outstanding leaders, setting a masterful example for our young swimmers, in the pool and out,” Patton said of his prized team leaders.

Viessman to be inducted into Minnesota Softball Hall of Fame

At the 32nd annual Minnesota Softball Hall of Fame Banquet on October 29th, Wayne Viessman, one of the founders of Viessman Trucking will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for his years spent with the Clarkfield Softball Team.

Swim and Dive Team competes in Marshall

The Montevideo Girls Swim and Dive Team traveled to Marshall to compete last week. Scoring from that event follows: Girls 50 Yard Freestyle Varsity: 4th Lauren Dove 28.70, 5th Isabel Norman 30.26, 6th Cali Zeidler 31.27.

Project Turnabout holds 30th Annual Golf Scramble event for Caring and Sharing Patient Program

Project Turnabout held their 30th Annual Golf Scramble this past Friday, September 16th at the Granite Falls golf course. CEO Marti Paulson was present and spoke at the event before tee off was held at 12 pm. Paulson spoke about the incredible community support Project Turnabout has been fortunate to have over the last 30 years. She also spoke of the timeliness and quality of superior care that the ambulance crew has always provided, as well as expressing gratitude for the police force and how they’ve always worked so well with Project Turnabout over the decades. 100% of the proceeds from the golf scramble event is being used for the Caring and Sharing Patient Program at Project Turnabout; the program is in place to help patients in need, as many come to treatment with little to nothing.

Montevideo Football takes on Pierz

The Thunder Hawks football team took on Pierz Friday evening in an away game for a 21-35 loss. Leaders in the game included Francis O’Malley who rushed 178 yards on 22 carries and scored eight solo tackles. Complete scoring from that event follows: Montevideo (0-3) 0 7 14

CCM Health Speech Pathologist involved in Pioneer PBS documentary

CCM Health’s Speech Pathologist Supervisor, Gretchen Reeves, was recently interviewed and will be part of the Pioneer PBS’s newest documentary “Birkey’s Brain.” “Birkey’s Brain” a documentary by award-wining producer, Amanda Anderson, focuses on retired physician, Tom Birkey, and his wife Doris Thompson. In the documentary, they share their journey with Alzheimer’s. Gretchen Reeves was interviewed for the film and shares her expertise on providing memory care in western Minnesota.
