Thunder Hawk girls make school history with games played at State
Last week, the Montevideo Thunder Hawks Girls Basketball team traveled to Minneapolis for the first time in the school’s girls basketball history for the State AA Basketball Tournament. On Wednesday evening, the Thunder Hawks took on Providence Academy in a game that was close fought in the second half, but ultimately, the team took a loss 55-68.

Thunder Hawk girls basketball team makes school history
The R/A Facility at Southern Minnesota State University was filled with the sounds of cheering from Montevideo Thunder Hawks fans that gathered there Friday night to watch the girls basketball team make school history with their Section 3AA championship win over Fairmont.

Thunder Hawk girls basketball team defeats WC, NLS
Last Tuesday evening, the Montevideo Girls Basketball team took on the West Central Area Knights in a Section 3AA-North playoffs game, defeating WC 39- 37.The game was tied up until the last 19.8 seconds, when Tenley Epema scored a shot from 12 feet away to push the Thunder Hawks into the victory. Leaders in that game included Avery Koenen who scored 18 points with one three-pointer. Complete scoring from that game follows:

Thunder Hawk boys basketball team loses to Jackson County Central
Last Saturday the Thunder Hawk boys basketball team played a Section 3AA-North playoff game against Jackson County Central for a 67- 75 loss. Leaders in that game included Landon Stock, who scored 30 points with 12 rebounds, while Hunter Strand added 11 points with one block for the teams total. Complete scoring from that game follows:

South Dakota State University The following students graduated after the summer and fall 2021 semesters at South Dakota State University. The students listed below completed all requirements for a degree and/or certificate program and those requirements have been verified by the appropriate college.

UNITED Wrestlers compete at State Tournament
On Friday, team UNITED wrestlers participated in the State Wrestling Tournament preliminaries. Qualifying for semi-finals was Montevideo wrestler Daniel Gunlogson (113 pounds) who placed third in his division. Scoring for team UNITED follows:
Boys Swim & Dive team travel to Class A championship preliminary competition
The Montevideo Boys Swim & Dive team traveled last Friday to the Class A championship’s preliminary competition at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota Campus. Headed to that competition for the team Austin Dunn, Callim Schmitz, Evan Smith, Mickey Hess. In the 200 Medley Relay, the Montevideo team placed 15th., with Dunn, Schmitz, Smith and Hess scoring a total time of 1:42.99. In the 100 backstroke, the Thunder Hawk’s Austin Dunn finished 14th place. Both Dunn and the relay team finished with scores to place them in the “B” finals.
