The Gold Dusters move on to the State Competition this weekend at the Target Center in the Twin Cities. MINNESOTA The Gold Dusters Jazz Team took third place in the Sections competition in Montevideo last weekend.

Girls basketball team plays a busy week

The Thunder Hawk girls took on West Central Area last week for a 56-52 victory, bringing the girls 7-0 in the Section 3AA-North standings. Leaders in that game included Avery Koenen who scored 22 points, with 18 rebounds. Scoring from that game follows:

Thunder Hawk boys take on Minnewaska, Lakeview

On Friday, the Montevideo Thunder Hawk boys took a 60-62 loss in overtime against Minnewaska. Leaders in that game included Kaden Boike who scored 24 points, while Landon Stock landed a double-double, with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Complete scoring from that game follows:

Team UNITED takes second

On Friday, Team UNITED wrestlers traveled to the HighWater Ethanol Invitational in Lamberton, taking second place with a score of 171. Those scoring first place for Team UNITED were Daniel Gunlogson (113 pounds), Zander Clausen (120 pounds), and Keaton Haas (220 pounds). The team takes to the mats again at a triangular in Minneota on Thursday.

Thunder Hawk boys defeat BOLD

On Tuesday, the Thunder Hawk boys defeated BOLD in Bird Island for a 72-59 West Central Conference Win. Leaders in the game included Landen Stock who scored 20 points with 12 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Justin Collins added another 14 points with two threepointers, while Andrew VanBinsbergen scored 13 points with six rebounds, four assists.

Thunder Hawk girls defeat Melrose, BOLD last week

Last Tuesday, the Montevideo girls basketball team defeated the Melrose Dutchmen in a West Central Conference victory in Melrose, 70-57. Leaders in that game included Avery Koenen, who scored a game-high 26 points with 12 rebounds, two blocks. Teagan Epema scored another 16 points toward the team total with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Complete scoring from that game follows:

Gold Dusters compete in “Happiness is Dancing” competition

The Montevideo Gold Dusters dance team took part in the "Happiness is Dance" competition at YME on Saturday, with schools from over 20 districts. The Varsity Kick team took 6th place, competing against 18 teams. JESSICA STÖLEN-JACOBSON

Thunder Hawks Knowledge Bowl teams place at competition

The Montevideo Knowledge Bowl team recently scored big in competition at Dawson-Boyd. The Varsity team placed 3rd, while the Junior Varsity teams placed 1st and 3rd place. On Saturday, the team traveled to compete again at Lac qui Parle Valley, taking 1st & 4th place for Junior High, and 3rd & 5th place for Varsity. PHOTO SUBMITTED
