Boys Swim & Dive team travel to Class A championship preliminary competition
The Montevideo Boys Swim & Dive team traveled last Friday to the Class A championship’s preliminary competition at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota Campus. Headed to that competition for the team Austin Dunn, Callim Schmitz, Evan Smith, Mickey Hess. In the 200 Medley Relay, the Montevideo team placed 15th., with Dunn, Schmitz, Smith and Hess scoring a total time of 1:42.99. In the 100 backstroke, the Thunder Hawk’s Austin Dunn finished 14th place. Both Dunn and the relay team finished with scores to place them in the “B” finals.

Montevideo Swim & Dive team members qualify for State
Last Thursday, the Montevideo boys Swim & Dive team participated in the Section 3A preliminaries, with team members qualifying for advancement to sections. Montevideo scoring was as follows: 200 MEDLEY RELAY – (1) Montevideo (Austin Dunn, Callim Schmitz, Evan Smith, Mickey Hess) 1;43.31 … 200 FREESTYLE – (5) Austin Dunn, 1:54.95 50 FREESTYLE – (4) Evan Smith, 23.46, (10) Gavin Arends, 23.84 DIVING – (9) Wyatt Picht, 187.00.

Thunder Hawk boys basketball team defeats BOLD
On Thursday, the Montevideo boys basketball team took on Melrose for a 54-76 loss in an away game. Leaders in that game included Kaden Boike, who scored 10 points with three assists and a steal. Andrew VanBinsbergen added another 10 points to the team total. Complete scoring from that game follows:

Stock named West Central Conference player of the week
Landon Stock was named the West Central Conference Player of the Week for boys basketball last week. West Central Conference Schools include Benson, BOLD, Melrose Area, Minnewaska Area, Montevideo, Morris Area and Sauk Centre. MINNESOTA

Three from Team UNITED qualify for State
Last weekend, Team UNITED traveled to Redwood Falls to the Section 3AA championship individual tournament. At the meet, qualifiers for State were Daniel Gunlogson (113 pounds), Zander Clausen (120), Dain Mortenson (152), Avery Wittnebel (160) and Keaton Haas (220). Scoring from that event follows:

Three from Team UNITED reach milestones
Tyler Schickedanz achieved his 60th win at the Section Tournament Saturday. MINNESOTA Dan Gunlogson achieved his 100th win at the Section Tournament Saturday.

Thunder Hawk girls basketball team advances to State finals
Last week, the Thunder Hawk girls defeated Benson 58-19 in an away game. The win signaled the title of West Central Conference Champs for the Thunder Hawk girls, with a 12-1 West Central Conference record. The title is the first in the school's history. The girls moved on to the Sections Tournament Saturday hosted in Montevideo to defeat Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 65-34, advancing the team to the state finals.

Thunder Hawk girls take home three wins last week
Last Tuesday, the Thunder Hawk girls defeated Melrose 72-34 in a home game. Leaders in that game included Tenley Epema who scored 22 points with five three-pointers. Avery Koenen added an additional 22 points to the team's total. Complete scoring from that game follows:

Thunder Hawks defeat Benson 70-56
Last Tuesday evening, the Thunder Hawk boys basketball team took on Morris/Chokio-Alberta for a 64-77 loss in Morris. Leaders in that game included Landon Stock, who scored 18 points, ten rebounds.
