Thunder Hawks Knowledge Bowl teams place at competition
The Montevideo Knowledge Bowl team recently scored big in competition at Dawson-Boyd. The Varsity team placed 3rd, while the Junior Varsity teams placed 1st and 3rd place. On Saturday, the team traveled to compete again at Lac qui Parle Valley, taking 1st & 4th place for Junior High, and 3rd & 5th place for Varsity. PHOTO SUBMITTED
Thunder Hawk girls ranked 7th in Minnesota Class 2A
New London-Spicer and Sauk Centre are signature early-season wins for the once-beaten Montevideo girl’s basketball team, coach Anthony Jackson told the Montevideo American-News recently. “We came into the season thinking that we could compete against those two high-quality teams,” said Jackson.
Thunder Hawk boys defeat Benson 65-39
Tuesday evening, the Thunder Hawk boys defeated Benson 6-39 in a home game. Leaders in that game included Kaden Boike, scoring 18 points including four three-pointers, and six rebounds. Hunter Strand added another 11 points with three assists to the team total. Complete scoring from that game follows:
Just for Kix, Gold Dusters dancers perform at 2022 Winter Show
The Middle Kix group performed "Nutcracker Remix" at the "Let's Do the Twist" 2022 Just for Kix Winter Show Saturday. JESSICA STÖLEN-JACOBSON The Tiny B group dancers performed "Peppermint Candy" at the Just for Kix show.
Montevideo defeats Morris Area 61-45
Montevideo’s upstart high school girl's basketball team improved to 9-1 overall with an impressive 61-45 win at Morris Area last Tuesday. “We’ve had a really good start to our season, including wins against New London and Sauk Centre which were big for our program,” said second-year Thunder Hawks coach Anthony Jackson.
Thunder Hawks host swim and dive meet
The Montevideo Boys Swim and Dive Team hosted Melrose/Sauk Centre Fusion on January 13th. The event ended with score totals showing a loss to Fusion, 85-101 Varsity, and 55-93 Junior Varsity. Complete scoring from that event follows:
Team UNITED takes home victory at Redwood Falls quadrangular
Team UNITED took part in the Redwood Valley wrestling quadrangular in Redwood Falls January 11th. Leaders in that went included Landon Olson (195 pounds), Zach DeBeer (220) and Keaton Haas (285) who each scored three straight matches. Complete scoring from that event follows:
Thunder Hawks boys battle through tough streak
Montevideo’s surging high school boy’s basketball team more than held its own during a challenging rugged four-game stretch against stateranked teams coming out of the Christmas break. The Thunder Hawks lost at home to Pipestone 52-41, fell at Redwood Valley 78-62, defeated host Sauk Centre 66- 62 and, last Thursday, lost to visiting Morris 63-52.
