Boys Swim & Dive Team takes home a win in Willmar conference
The Montevideo Boys Swim and Dive Team took home a win at the Willmar conference last Tuesday evening. Leaders in that event included Austin Dunn, who won the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.81), the 100 backstroke (1:01.73) and took part in the winning 200 medley relay team with Callim Schmitz, Gavin Arends, Mickey Hess (1:49.48). Gold Dusters dance teams take third place in Dawson competition
Gold Dusters JV Jazz team took 8th place at the Dawson competition. KAREN BER G The Gold Dusters JV High Kick team took third place in the Dawson competition over the weekend.
Thunder Hawk boys defeat Sauk Centre in overtime win
The Thunder Hawk boys basketball team traveled to Redwood Falls last Tuesday evening to take on the Redwood Valley Cardinals in a close-fought game for a 62-78 loss. Leaders in that game included Landon Stock who scored 16 points. Bradyn Shultz contributed another 13 points to the team total with six rebounds and three assists. Team UNITED athletes score in Rumble on the Red tournament
Over the holiday break, Team UNITED wrestling, comprised of athletes from Montevideo, Dawson-Boyd and Lac qui Parle Valley, traveled to participate in the 62-team Rumble in the Red tournament. Wednesday, December 29th, the tournament opened with Team UNITED wrestlers, Daniel Gunlogson (113) and Keaton Haas (220) advancing to the championship semifinals.

Trout anglers can find winter fishing opportunities in southeast Minnesota
Winter trout fishing is a great way to enjoy the outdoors along streams that meander through the scenic bluffs and hills of southeastern Minnesota. Trout fishing is catch-and-release only from Saturday, Jan.
Statewide snowmobile season here, but most trails not groomed yet
While recent snow in parts of Minnesota has many snowmobile enthusiasts excited to take their first ride of the season, most of the state’s trails are not yet groomed and ready to ride, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
