Daryl Hermanson, 62, passed away at his home in Boyd on Thursday, September 15, 2022, as a result of cancer. He was born on April 12, 1960, in Montevideo to Vernel and Janice (Moen) Hermanson. Daryl was united in marriage to Melissa Schmitz on April 4, 1992, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd and the couple had two sons. Daryl worked for Tri-Line in Boyd for a few years before farming and attending aviation school in Anoka. He came back to Boyd where he worked for Prairie Grain Partners for 23 years until his death. Prairie Grain was family to him.
 Daryl was also a member of the Boyd Fire Department since 1985 and was the fire chief for six years. He enjoyed being on the fire department and the guys on it. Daryl enjoyed going to the family cabin on Lake Minnewaska every weekend he could and loved to spend time with family, friends, and fishing. He also enjoyed having his boys and the family down to the house for meals to spend time with them.
 Daryl is survived by wife, Melissa “Missy” Hermanson; sons, Trevor (Erika) and Tyler (Abby); grandkids, Lincoln, Charlotte, Gracelyn, Kayden, and another grandchild due in March 2023 that he was very excited about; mother, Janice; brothers, Mike and Dan (Kristie) Hermanson; mother-in-law, Susan Schmitz, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernel; father-in-law, Donald Schmitz Sr.; brothers-in-law, Mike and Donald Schmitz Jr., and grandparents on both sides.
 A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd with interment in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with the J.H. Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield. www.jhlynner.com.
