David Macziewski

David Macziewski, 69, of Montevideo passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023. at his home surrounded by family. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023. at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sparta in rural Montevideo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
David LeRoy Macziewski was born on April 22, 1953, the son of Elroy and Rosella “Sally” (Olson) Macziewski in Montevideo. David was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He attended school and graduated from Montevideo High School Class of 1971. After graduation, he drove school bus and farmed with his Dad.
David married Sandra Negen on August 17, 1974, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. The couple were blessed with three children, Joshua, Nathan and Kelly. In 1977, they moved to the family farm northeast of Montevideo where David not only farmed but held employment at the elevator. He worked first at the Montevideo elevator and later at Wegdahl. In 1989, David began working at Friendship Homes and retired in 2016.
David enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time at the lake. He was a man of few words and hard working. In recent years you would find him driving around his farm keeping an eye on things.
David is survived by his wife, Sandy of Montevideo; sons, Joshua (Amanda) of Montevideo, Nathan (Lynne) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; daughter, Kelly (Tate) Mueller of Maynard; grandchildren, Megan Macziewski, Grace Macziewski, Jack Macziewski, Macin Barron; sister, Judy (Alvin) Gronewald of Montevideo; brothers, Eugene (Mary) Macziewski of Fargo, N.D., Lonny Macziewski of Elk River; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Elroy and Rosella “Sally”.
