Delores Gabrielson

 Delores Gabrielson, 85, of Hoffman passed away on October 18, 2022, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Alexandria. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Hoffman. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 29 at 11 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Hoffman with Pastor Mark Mathews officiating. Interment will take place in Bethel Cemetery following the service.
 Delores Ann “DeAnn” (Sandberg) Gabrielson was born December 8, 1936, in Granite Falls to Ellsworth Roosevelt and Laura Christine (Abel) Sandberg. She grew up on the family farm near Granite Falls, where she was baptized and a member of Granite Falls Baptist Church. She graduated from Granite Falls school district and worked at Montevideo Hospital prior to her marriage. On March 24, 1956, she married Russell Dean Gabrielson. Following their marriage, they farmed together around Big Bend/Milan. They were very active members of Big Bend Lutheran Church. She was Sunday School Superintendent, Ladies Aide President, Sunday School Teacher, Big Bend Birthday Club member. In 1987, they relocated to their summertime home at Red Rock Lake by Hoffman. Delores worked at Douglas County Hospital in the housekeeping department before retiring. After Russell retired, they decided to take a trip in the winter of 2000 to Apache Junction, Ariz. to visit his snowbird siblings. They went down for two weeks and came home three months later after purchasing their own place in the retirement park. They enjoyed 15 years of the snowbird life, with lots of memories, beautiful tans all year round, and made fabulous lifelong friends.
 Delores enjoyed doing lots of handiwork such as, gardening, crocheting, embroidering, Hardanger, puzzles, playing cards, baking – especially lefse – and looking at pictures on Facebook.
 Delores and Russell had five children to the union of their marriage, Julie, Lynn, Janelle, Larry and Jeanette. Delores’s husband, children and grandchildren were very important in her life, along with all the friendships she made.
 She is survived by her husband of over 66 years, Russell Gabrielson; children, Lynn (Karen) Gabrielson, Janelle (William) Wellnitz, Larry (Kristin) Gabrielson, Jeanette (Daniel) Weber, son-in-law Randy Pederson, 12 grandchildren: Ryan (Amy) Pederson, LeeAnn (Scott) Boehne, Jason (Ashley) Pederson, Davis (Nellie) Gabrielson, Mitch (Karen) Gabrielson, Lonnie (Lisa) Gabrielson, Christopher Wellnitz, Stephanie (Phil) Wellnitz, James Gabrielson, Paige Gabrielson, Brenden (Jennifer) Weber and Deonna (Matthew) Patch, 19 great-grandchildren: Noah, Madysen, Carter, Allison, Trent, Tyson, Yvonne, Owen, Malachi, Aria, Myla, Connor, Cade, Bennett, Brooks, Haven, Onyx, Iwan and Baby Patch due in December, two great-great-grandchildren: Jakobie, James and Baby Merkins due in April, sisters-in-law Judith Thompson and Pearl Gabrielson and brother-in-law: David (Janet) Gabrielson, many nieces and nephews.
 She was preceded in death by: daughter Julie Pederson, mother, father, infant brother Lynn, brother Virgil, sisters Charmain Carlson and Sharon Langager, brothers-in-law: Gordon Carlson and Richard Langager, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, mother- and father-in-law, brothers-in-law Maurice and Donald Gabrielson and Robert Thompson, one niece and two nephews.
