Jerry G. Larson

 Mr. Jerry G. Larson, 73, of North Augusta, S.C., beloved husband of Mrs. Evelyn Larson, entered into rest on Sunday, May 15, 2022. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Eric Sheets, a brother, Arnold Larson, and a sister, Helen Gerdes; and brothers-in-law, Fred Gerdes, Dave Porter, and Harold Baker. The funeral was held on May 20, 2022, at the Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel in Graniteville, S.C. with military honors accorded by the United States Army honor guard. Mr. Larson was born in Montevideo to the late Reuben and Dena (Metlerkamp) Larson and he was baptized at a young age as a Lutheran. He graduated from Maynard High School in 1968, then enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Gordon, Ga., where he met his future wife, Evelyn, and her three children. They were married on November 7, 1970. Jerry had a strong work ethic having retired from Univar Solutions in Augusta, Ga., as a supervisor with over 40 years of service. He had an infectious sense of humor. Jerry enjoyed building and working on classic cars, visiting his family up north, and hanging out with his four-legged children, Max and West, but he especially loved spending time with his grandson and granddaughter. Left to cherish his memory along with his wife, Evelyn are his children: Jennifer Mealing (McKelvin) of North Augusta, Mike Sheets of Clearwater, S.C., and Robin Deaner of North Augusta; his brothers and sisters: Roger Larson (Zona) of Clarkfield, Annette Porter of Appleton, Wis., Donna Baker of Minneapolis and Dale Larson (Jeanette) of Crookston; his grandchildren: Kaelin Anthony Reuben Lee (his best friend), Jada “Jada Bug” Denise Mealing, Josh Ashley (Dawn), Stephanie Wright, Michael “Smiley” Sheets, Jr, Terrah Home (Nick), Jodi Sanders, and Justin Hall; many great-grandchildren and Richard Tice (Kori), of Liberty, N.C., who considered Jerry to be “his friend and bonus Dad”.
