On October 15, Florence Dacey held a Poetry Reading at the Granite Area Arts Council gallery with 38 attendees. Audrey Arner introduced Dacey to the podium, saying, “In Granite Falls, this is where Florence taught us how to write poetry as testimony when the corporation wanted to put hazardous waste upon which all of our lives stand here in Granite Falls...and Florence said no in a different kind of way, and it made a difference where others no did not.” Dacey has also taught in classrooms, teaching countless students of varying ages to tell history and stories through their poetry. In her new book, “The Mercy of Stone Poems From 50 Years 1970-2020” Dacey published 100 previously published poems. Her book is available to purchase at the Granite Area Arts Council gallery.
