Steven Paul Skogrand

Steven Paul Skogrand was born to Paul and Minnie Skogrand in Montevideo on August 26, 1950.
Steve lost his short battle with glioblastoma brain cancer on January 4, 2022 in Lewiston, Idaho.
Steve married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Diane Reinke, February 16, 1968 in Clear Lake, S.D. After that they were pretty much inseparable.
Steve started working at an early age for Bofferdings’s Nursery with his dad followed by working for Raleigh Lillemoe Farm. He started his lifelong career in the feed industry at the age of 18, first for GTA Feeds then Totem Pacific and finally at Land O’ Lakes/Purina. His career brought the family to various cities in six different states. He retired in 2015 after 47 years.
Steve loved softball, playing many tournaments with three of his sons and even some grandsons. He was a pitcher that knew just where to put that ball so they would swing at it. #8 left his cleats on the field in 2014 but his legacy lives on.
Steve’s wife and kids meant the world to him. He encouraged them in all their sports, rarely missing an event, and fostering the spirit of competition through regular family card (Buck) games. A family “Buck” tournament will be held on the day of the memorial!
After retirement, golf became a way of life for Steve where he spent four, sometimes five or six, days a week golfing with “the guys.”
His last view was looking out his living room window on the 12th Green of LGCC and the beautiful Snake River.
Steve is survived by wife, Sharon. Sons: Shannon (Kelly), Doug (Jen), Daughter: Stephanie (Kevin Whittaker), Sons: Shane (Jenny), Shaun (Monica), 17 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Sisters: Diane Smith, Paulette (Larry Meinerts), Tami (Matt Henrich). Brothers-in-law: Larry Reinke (Judy), Bill Reinke (Cherry) and Dick Reinke, and many nieces and nephews.
Steve also leaves a few lifelong friends who got him into a lot of trouble when he was younger: Jerome Teigen (Vicky), Bruce Howard (Gail), Dean Howard (Myrtle), Bruce Falk (Bev), Gary Mogard (Nila).
He was preceded in death by his son Steven Paul Skogrand, II in 2004 and by his parents.
A memorial will be held at the family home on June 25, 2022 from 1-3 p.m. A memorial is being planned for later this summer in Minnesota.
