MILAN - David C. Olson, age 81, of rural Milan, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, in Appleton Area Health-Hospital. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2022, at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Pastor Kristine Isder officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Jack Deuth, age 78, of Montevideo passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, at St. Cloud Hospital. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 10:30 AM with interment following at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-7 PM at Wing-Bain Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 6:45 PM.

Time to buy new hunting, fishing licenses

It’s the time of year when anglers and hunters need to buy new fishing and hunting licenses. Minnesota fishing, hunting and trapping licenses for 2021 expire Monday, Feb. 28. Licenses for 2022 are now available wherever fishing and hunting licenses are sold, online (mndnr.gov/BuyALicense) and by telephone at 888-665-4236. Mobile buyers receive a text or email that serves as proof of a valid fish or game license to state conservation officers.

DNR webinars cover archery hunting, sturgeon fishing

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources invites Minnesotans interested in learning about the basics of archery hunting and sturgeon fishing to attend upcoming webinars. The archery hunting webinar will be at noon on Wednesday, Feb.

Valhalla Apartments in Clarkfield celebrates 50th anniversary

Fifty years ago, the Valhalla Apartments opened in Clarkfield, after a lot of effort from a board that was formed in order to secure the building for Clarkfield’s future. Richard Petersen, of Clarkfield, is one of the original Board members. “I got appointed to the board after one of the original board members left town and I was selected to be on the board for quite a long time during the construction phase of the facility,” Petersen recalls.
