Montevideo’s first-ever drag show scheduled for April 9th at the Hollywood Theater
Elijah Lanz has been working since October to bring a new event to Montevideo for the first time in the town’s history. Lanz has formed a committee of people over the months since planning began who have expressed an interest in making Montevideo’s first drag show a reality. The event will be held on April 9th at the Hollywood Theater.

Gold Dusters head to State Dance Competition
The Montevideo Gold Dusters team participated in the Montevideo-hosted Sections competition Saturday afternoon. JESSICA STÖLEN-JACOBSON The High Kick Team placed third in the competition, qualifying them to move on to the State competition.

MILAN - Merle Schroeder, of Milan, died Thursday, February 3, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN at the age of 75.

Angela Lynn Peters, age 51, of North Mankato, died peacefully Monday, February 7, 2022 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, surrounded by family and after a three-year battle with cancer. Funeral service was held at 1 PM, Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Christ the King Lutheran Church (222 Pfau Street, Mankato, MN 56001) with visitation one hour prior.
Marjorie Keller
Marjorie Keller, age 88, of Milbank, SD, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Edgewood Vista Senior Living in Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.

MONTEVIDEO - Jeanne Huber died Saturday, February 12, 2022 at CCM Health in Montevideo at the age of 73. Celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 17, at 1:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo.

ST. LOUIS PARK - Georgia Mae Hanson, 81, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 with her family by her side at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. In true Georgia fashion, she left this world exactly as she intended: gracefully, tranquilly, and surrounded by her loved ones.

BOYD - Donna Renee Freeman, age 60, of Boyd, passed away peacefully February 14th, 2022, at Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, South Dakota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Friday February 25th at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday evening at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to services on Friday. Arrangements with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home.

Milan Community Column
Another roller-coaster week. Tuesday it got warm enough to rain. Yes, rain in February. That made the roads and streets terribly slippery. I even had to completely skip walking the dog one day. That hasn't happened in the last 3 years. We both lived through that experience.

Beyond Reason
The big game’s a’comin’ and every year there’s a lot of talk about the commercials. Normally commercials are a thing I avoid. During a commercial break, I usually take a stroll or engage in light banter. I might fix a snack or even, on occasion, check the laundry.
