Thunder Hawks Math Team competes at State
Our Montevideo Math Team has closed out a very successful season. During the season, Montevideo took home the top team score in Section 3A, which had 6 teams. Monte finished the season with 268 team points. New London-Spicer finished second with 246 points, while Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City finished 3rd with 227 points, MACCRAY had 145, BOLD 133, and Lakeview 84.

The Remember Project’s 3rd in a three-part series of video plays coming March 24th
Granite Falls Living at Home Block Nurse Program (GF-LAH/BNP) The Montevideo Area Memory Loss Network (MAMLN) in conjunction with the Granite Falls Living at Home Block Nurse Program (GF-LAH/BNP) is pleased to announce the upcoming virtual performance of “In the Garden,” the third in a three part series of plays being presented by the Remember Project. The event will be held on Thursday March 24th from 1-3:00 PM.
Construction on Montevideo Veterans Home on schedule
Veterans seeking skilled nursing care in western Minnesota can look forward to a summer 2023 opening of the future Minnesota Veterans Home in Montevideo. Officials from the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) shared that good news during a virtual meeting with Montevideo community stakeholders last week.

Check awarded from Mayor’s Gala proceeds
At Monday evening’s City Council meeting, Montevideo City Manager Robert Wolfington accepted a check from Mayor Erich Winter and his wife Jayme Winter. Police Department sees rise in number of calls in 2021
At the regular meeting of the Montevideo City Council, Police Officer Jason Deterling was introduced to the council by Police Chief Ken Schule. Deterling has been working for the Montevideo Police for the last three years. After Sergeant Steven Nagel left the Montevideo Police Department recently for employment closer to his wife, the Police Department went through the process of advertising and interviewing for the vacancy. ALC students explore careers virtually
On Monday, the Minnesota Valley Area Learning Center hosted a virtual reality experience in which students were able to get a taste of what various skilled trades jobs involve through the use of virtual reality headgear and a hands-on traveling truck that is set up for augmented reality experiences. The company working with the ALC is titled Big Ideas USA traveled from New Ulm for the day. Inside the truck, the students were able to wear virtual reality headsets, while also holding the tools of the trade, such as a paint sprayer. Inside of the classroom, students were able to wear headsets that had around 26 different skilled trade tasks that could be sampled through virtual reality programming.
