Faith Column: “Father, Forgive Them”

Jesus begins the lonely hours on the cross. He wears the sharp crown of thorns, which cut his head deeply. He feels the pain of the open wounds from the nails. Jesus, our Savior, does not think of himself at this moment. He is thinking of everyone else. His pain is not the issue - love is. Love is revealed in his words of compassion, mercy and grace. Jesus called out to the Father and prayed for us. “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

Yet, as my last article explained, sometimes the caregiver themselves are not able to see that there are needs and concerns. Sometimes family members, neighbors, friends, etc. of the caregivers need to initiate that action.

New gourmet popcorn and confections shop opens in Montevideo

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the phrase “When life gives you kernels, make popcorn” has been what Jayme and Erich Winter have lived by. The need to find a way to generate income when their business, Montevideo Millennium Theater, was closed due to the pandemic shut-downs led to the creation of their highly popular gourmet popcorn line. Selling first regular theater popcorn to a locked-down public, then experimenting with flavors they’d dreamed up over the years but had no time to try.
