Superintendent’s Column: Is Failure Something to Fear?

I find it interesting that the greatest hitter in major league baseball history has a career batting average of .366. Almost ⅔ of Ty Cobb’s plate appearances ended up with him walking back to the dugout. That means that the best hitter to ever step to the plate failed to accomplish his goal of getting a base hit almost ⅔ of the time. By failing almost ⅔ of the time Ty Cobb earned his way into the baseball hall of fame and received a record 222 out of 226 possible votes.

Moms fish free May 7-8

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources During Take a Mom Fishing Weekend Saturday, May 7, to Sunday, May 8, moms who live in Minnesota can fish without purchasing a license. The Minnesota State Legislature established this special weekend in 1988 to coincide with Mother’s Day.

Thunder Hawk girls take on Sauk Centre in double-header

The Thunder Hawk girls took a 4-14 loss in the first game of a double-header away game against Sauk Centre last Thursday. Leaders in the game include Mathea Jorgenson who scored a home run and three RBI. Complete scoring follows:

Thunder Hawks golf teams play in BOLD invitational

The Thunder Hawk boys and girls golf teams traveled to the Olivia Golf Club for a West Central Conference meet last week. The boys finished in sixth place with a score of 209, while the girls finished in sixth place with a score of 254.

Last Thursday, the Montevideo Thunder Hawks baseball team took on Sauk Centre for a 3-10 defeat. This weather pattern is getting old, isn’t it? Of course, we had one mild day on Saturday as temperatures climbed into the low to mid-70s across much of the area. In southern Minnesota, temperatures were even warmer there on Saturday.
