Showers and thunderstorms to push through the area

Mark Anthony Chief Meteorologist Kool-TV What a weekend we had for all the fun activities around the region this past weekend! We had lots of sunshine, low humidity, and pleasant temperatures across the Gopher State! The clouds waited to roll back into the state until Monday. For most of us, we couldn’t have ordered better weather for a weekend! We also had some fog roll in late Sunday into early Monday across Minnesota.

5th annual Ride to Remember held

The 5th annual Ride 2 Remember event was held Saturday in Granite Falls. The event, a continuation of the former KMS Memorial Ride that was held in memoriam of six local area soldiers that lost their lives while serving the country, including Matt Kahler, of Granite Falls, and Brent Koch of Morton. The Ride 2 Remember event was begun when the KMS Memorial Ride ended, with Rachael and Mike Felske, of New Prague, took over the event and restructuring it to what it is today. In addition to the ride itself, the day included a corn hole tournament, and in the evening, a meal at the Granite Falls American Legion, and three musical acts holding a concert. There were 271 registered riders for this years event. Organizer Rachael Felske said, “This years ride was our best yet! We had the privilege of making a $,7500 donation to Warriors Path and the honor of riding and remembering 61 heroes that served our country and are no longer with us.” This year’s event featured a key point of mental health and veteran suicide awareness. Felske said, “If you are struggling or know someone that is struggling, know that you are not alone! There are resources available to help you through difficult times, you do not need to fight this battle alone! “ The event was sponsored by a number of area businesses and organizations. “We would also like to say thank you to all of our sponsors this year and everyone that attended any part of the events throughout the day. Your support and trust in us has allowed us the opportunity to make a positive impact on many veteran’s lives,” Felske said.

Memory Care Corner: The Theory of Retrogenesis

For those who have been following my Caring Bridge site (Lori J Petersen), you are aware that after having two clear PET scans, I did have a spot show up on the most recent PET scan taken on July 1. A biopsy on that spot, did show it to be cancerous, so I am once again fighting a battle of the unknown.

News from Milan

What great sleeping weather we have been having. I’ve become used to the humidity so haven’t closed the windows for over a week now. Getting up in the morning is a little chilly, so I put it off as long as I can. Got home later than usual last night from Isaac’s 16th birthday party. Was sitting at my computer checking emails and heard a noise outside. I’m really not sure if it was a coyote in the distance or an owl close to the windows. I know that sounds weird, but the sound was. Weird. And only heard it once. H-m-m. We had a sumptuous feast in celebration of Isaac’s 16th birthday. Grilled steak, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, garlic bread and milk. And homemade chocolate cake for dessert. Yum. The corn was made in the oven. Just throw the entire cob on a cookie sheet for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Leave the husk on. It peels off easily when you take it back out. So easy to do multiple ears.
